Granddad Collis

Grandad001

This is my Granddad Collis I have no memory of him as he died when I was very young. Those that knew him say he was a true Gent. My wife think there’s a resemblance between him and our youngest Lucy across the eyes, There’s a certainly something that says she’s a Collis

Summer summer summertime

Well this is one of the best summers we’ve had for years. Glorious hot weather, week after week of hardly any rain. The trails are dusty, bogs dried out and everything lush and green.

Got myself a Cross Bike to enjoy long spins from the door and it’s just great fun miles upon miles of grinding. The heckler is still loved though it’s just back from a weekend in Afan.

What a top weekend scorching weather, beer, friends and miles of great trails. Afan’s trails are built so well they swoop, they swish and a nice added mix of good little drop offs. They also feel more natural in the way they are made great stuff.

Anyway suns out after a heavy rain fall so trails should be grippy. I reckon a nice a coffee from the new cafeteria and some breakfast then off on a ride ready for nightshift tonight.

Update: No riding done kidney stones niggling and rather not argue with them. Settled now but a ride in this heat might fire one off. Maybe tomorrow if I can’t walk a dog we may be adopting.

Back into the groove

So I’ve finally got around to riding a little more often again, hectic things with family took some time up in April but that has settled down now. So managed a couple of rides this last week and back out on Monday.

Simonside was amazing last night true dusty trails but great gripping surface, some nicely washed out bits thanks to the snow but sadly the snow also took down a few tree tops blocking some parts of the trail. Still it was a cracking night, good craic with buddies, some fine riding, beer and a curry on the way home just fantastic.

Details here:

Toasty

Well lit it last night as the mortar and plaster were set. It was a different fire made a great roaring noise and lit very easily. A good shovel of coal and some logs it wad sorted all night and this morning just took a couple of logs to get her going again from the coal embers. Gas is now off again thank god and all just in time for the snow to return.

Cold

We have the builders back in to sort the fire as it was smoking. Lots of windows and doors open so it’s fucking freezing. Still they’ve removed a load of crap from the chimney and the flue is in so should be done soon, then we’ll have a toasty house again with a nice burner.

Iphone addiction

Well I finally joined the craze and got an iPhone, they’re very clever indeed such a simple but yet powerful gadget. Down side is they’re also very very addictive so many gadgets and some of them even useful. The shift planner especially useful now have my entire shifts for the financial year in my phone. They can be emailed to others too so makes organising this years social calender a little easier. And as you’ve probably guessed it had a wordpress tool too.

Went for a walk in the snow and managed to take a good few shots. I was creeping up on this Heron but it spotted me some how in my bright red jacket. So I had to try and capture it on the move, this was the best shot shame I missed it’s head in the shot.

FIRE!!!!!!!!!!

Well I really do neglect this site but it is essentially just to provide me with some hosting space and emails so not a loss.

Currently sat squashed into my dining room with half the living room furniture in with me, we’re having a log burner fitted. This is not to save the planet by not consuming as many fossil fuels but simply just as they’re nice, produce massive amounts of heat and cheap to run when you get logs for free. Pissed off with paying a fortune for gas so hopefully this will help and should pay for it’s self within a year or so. Just a mess and pain while it’s going on but they’re cracking on well and making a great job.

Rambling

Hmm! Not made an entry for months now not that anyone would have noticed maybe I should change my name to Steven Fry as the world seems to watching his every move on Twitter. Twitter being the latest obsessive website for people with dull lives, even worse than facebook as it can be uopdated with ease and quickly. Why the fuck would anyone want to know what someone they don’t know is up to every 10 mins, “oooh look he’s having a dump”.

Then again suppose it not much different then me rambling on here but I have the bonus of no one visits my website.
